A Show of Humanity

By Erica Tanne on Tuesday, July 29 2008

Event on July 21, 2008

This day was a show of humanity; of love and joy under the torrid July sun. There were jobs, and sprinkler fun and animals to pet and great choirs and singers and men and women of faith and prayers. There were children having fun and adults showing love. We thank the City and the Winger Wagon, the Fire Department, Police, the Newark Interfaith Council for Peace and Hope the many faith based leaders such as Reggie Osborne and Deen Shareef, Shaquana and the others from Integrity who spent two days doing dozens of children's hair. We thank the street warriors and 'The Council.' We thank Rich Grossklaus and Michele and Melanie and the set up crew and the drivers and the food and those who put up the tents, all from Integrity House. We thank Tom Reddick from the Renaissance Church for handing out food and Will Oliver from Jersey Tractor Trailor for handing out jobs, and Tom Owens from Communities in Schools and Council people Ron Rice and Mildred Crump who have done so much for the West Ward & the City of Newark.

We thank all who helped and were part of this wonderful event that gave so many children and their parents, a day without fear and a day with love.
